Occupational Health and Safety

Our Goal

Our objective is to improve the holistic health and well-being of our employees and contractors through a range of initiatives. These include comprehensive training programs for our employees and contractors, the dissemination of vital information, promoting awareness, facilitating access to both mental and physical health services, and conducting regular medical checkups. Our preventive and supportive care strategies can be classified into three key domains: mental health, physical health, and safety. We strive to foster a sense of pride among all individuals associated with our company, emphasizing that health and safety take precedence in both our professional and personal lives.

HSEQ Policy and Processes

Safety is a fundamental business principle at Canacol. We have cultivated a proactive safety culture that places emphasis on the personal well-being of our workforce across all operations. To uphold this commitment, we have implemented a Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) Management System that aligns with our Sustainability (HSEQ) Policy. This system adheres to international standards and industry best practices, ensuring compliance and promoting a comprehensive approach to HSEQ management.

Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS)

Our OHSMS is certified under the ISO 45001 standard and encompasses various essential elements. These include thorough assessment of OHS risks and hazards, the integration of measures to effectively prepare for and respond to emergency situations, internal inspections, independent external verification, comprehensive training programs for employees and other relevant parties, and the inclusion of OHS criteria within our procurement and contractual requirements. This approach has further strengthened our safety culture and deepened our understanding of both internal and external risk factors.
